Cañales - First Area

Hola Todos, First week in the field was great!👍 In the zone Cárdenas, and my area is Cañales its a small town, but a great one. Im going to be here for at least 3 months so thats cool. One thing about this place is it doesnt have any big markets, just a lot of little shops. Only one shop takes a card, super sanchez. So we get lunches from members everyday. Some meals are like little thin peace of fried chicken and something else and tortillas. Always tortillas. We had dinner with members the first two days as well. One was like taquitos with chorizo and queso. The other was tacos with al pastor, lime, pinapple, was so good, the only time i've eaten and gotten to the point where i was so full i couldnt eat anymore. Also they love their juice, always mango juice or another fruit juice. It was pretty crazy to get here. 



Got to see the Villahermosa temple when we got here and did all the new missionary meetings and had to say bye to Elder Bowen and Elder Foley. Gonna miss you guys🙂. Ill see Elder Bowen at zone conference though. I got my comp Elder Guerrero, chill guy , native of mexico city. Solo Espanol. Helping a lot but its a long journey to get my spanish to where i can understand everyone. Was a journey to get to my location, took a taxi from the mission home then a bus then a pochi, a little taxi barely fit everything and we had to wait 20 minutes in the rain for it, got really muddy and finally got to the house. What an adventure! Love it here for real. Its awesome, love my comp. Only thing that is dissapointing is theres not any big stores for food. 

Love the heat usually 95 ish with humidity 105 or so, always sweating, even my pants get sweaty its crazy. May not have had the most success this week, but this is the work of the Lord and it must go on. Hope y'all are doing great and my message is have HOPE, there may be challenges in your life that seem hopeless, but I assure you it will be alright. Try to think eternally or long term, Christ's sacrifice, his Atonement has made it so everything that is unfair in this life will be made fair after this. I hope you all can see this and understand it yourselfs. Its such a blessing to me to know this when i have doubts and trials, this gospel of Jesus Christ truly comforts and gives us peace no matter our circumstance. Love you all, Have HOPE!😁😁 Email me!!!! First week at the Mexico city MTC

  Hey everyone!  I just finished my first week at the Mexico city MTC , prior to that I had two weeks of online training. Nothing crazy happened on the flight here, although both my big suitcases have a broken wheel so gotta fix that soon. The first night was rough, dogs were barking like crazy and police cars sirens were going off all night. The second day we were here my companion Elder Bowen was assigned as District Leader so Elder Foley and I ( we are in a trio- 3 elders) were made house leaders. Basically what that means is Elder Bowen is in charge of any meeting we have in our district, which consists of us 3 elders and 7 hermanas (sisters). For Elder Foley and I it just means we get to run a devotional at our house with about 20 elders once or twice a week.  The food... it started off questionable, first night was pizza which was alright then it was good with tacos almost everyday rotating different types of meat. Hey everyone! This week went by so fast. A lot of things have happened. Second week done at the Mexico City MTC. A lot of learning and eating. We have two classes that are 3 hours each most days and now they are both in Spanish. We are now supposed to talk in only Spanish as well. It's been cool so far although we haven't talked only in Spanish but a good amount. Some highlights. My companions and I started going to the gym for like 15 to 20 minutes each day before we play basketball or pickleball. That's been super fun, especially basketball, we get about 50 minutes each day to exercise in any way we like and it's great. Each Wednesday for us is preparation day and that's today, I get to write emails call home and today go to the temple visitor center, next week the temple will open and that is really exciting that we will get to go. Hola Todos, Esta semana fue muy rápido. I love personal and language study so fun to do what I want and learn so much. Classes are fun as well I just prefer studying different topics. My Spanish has definitely improved, I can understand a lot more and can talk much better although conjugation while talking will take time to learn.  It was a great week, last Friday we introduced a new district of 12 sisters to our zone/branch, super chill people. Although every Friday and Wednesday we have to miss a good chunk of class as being zone leaders it's been great to meet all these people. That day on Friday we also taught a spanish lesson over zoom, the lady we taught was so nice and she even seemed like she had tears at the end. Not much happened on Saturday until Saturday night when about half of our casa got buzz cuts.
